The Gordon Lee Trojans didn’t swing the bats as well today as they did this past Friday, but they swung them well enough to earn a split against top-ranked Aquinas in the second round of the Class A state playoffs in Augusta on Wednesday.
Aquinas (27-3) took game one 9-3, but the Trojans (19-
salvaged the nightcap, winning 11-6 and handing the Irish their first loss of the year against another Class A team.
Gordon Lee head coach Greg Payne elected to save senior ace Zack DeBord until the second game to avoid a matchup with Aquinas ace Andrew Foushee.
