ROSSVILLE - Thursday night’s Ridgeland-Rome game was like a big pot of vegetable soup.
It had a little bit of everything.
In game that featured everything from a pickoff play to a suicide squeeze to a controversial homerun call that resulted in a 10-minute umpire conference, the Panthers were finally able to secure a 9-6 win, ending the Wolves’ unbeaten streak in Region 7-AAAA.
The controversial homer came in the bottom of the first inning.
With a runner at first, Justin Carruth hit a shot nearly parallel down the line at first.
The ball was called fair, but a lengthy discussion ensued with both coaches pleading their case more than once.
